IFRA Compliance
IFRA compliance means a fragrance respects the IFRA Standards: the industry's limits, bans and specifications for fragrance materials, set per product category.
The same compound can be compliant at one dose in a fine fragrance and not in a leave-on body lotion, because limits depend on how the product is used. Compliance is usually evidenced by an IFRA certificate from the fragrance supplier for a stated category and dose. IFRA is industry self-regulation rather than law, but brands, retailers and safety assessors expect it.
