Nose
A nose is the industry term for a professional perfumer – someone trained to identify, combine, and balance fragrance materials into a finished composition.
The term comes from the trained, highly discriminating sense of smell the role depends on, developed over years of formal training and practice. In everyday industry language, “nose” and “perfumer” are used almost interchangeably.
